Hydraulic oil analysis — San Diego
Find the failure in the oil, before it reaches the deckplate.
United RS is a San Diego lab for hydraulic and rotating-equipment fluids. ISO 4406 particle counts, Karl Fischer water, and wear-metal analysis to NAS, ASTM, SAE, ISO and MIL-SPEC, with results back fast and shipping covered both ways.
✓ We email a prepaid shipping label and cover shipping both ways.
Every report is a cleanliness code you can act on, not a wall of raw counts.
Why oil analysis
Contamination is the number-one killer of hydraulic systems.
Most hydraulic and bearing failures start in the fluid: particles scoring surfaces, water breaking down additives, wear metals climbing long before anything sounds wrong. A scheduled analysis catches it while it’s still a line on a report, not a rebuild on the deckplate.
Particle contamination
Abrasive debris that scores pumps, valves and servo clearances. Measured as an ISO 4406 / NAS 1638 cleanliness code.
Water ingress
Even trace water corrodes surfaces and strips additives. Caught at ppm by Karl Fischer titration.
Component wear
Rising wear metals point to the exact component failing, weeks before it seizes. Read by elemental analysis.
The analysis
Six tests. One picture of your fluid’s health.
Order the full panel or just the checks you need. Each result comes back against the governing standard, in plain pass / marginal / critical language.
Particle count analysis
ISO 4406 · NAS 1638Automatic particle counting that grades contamination as a cleanliness code, protecting pumps, valves and hydraulic systems.
Water contamination
Karl FischerDetects water down to ppm to head off corrosion and additive breakdown before it spreads through the system.
Oil condition & wear
ElementalIdentifies metal particles in the oil to monitor system wear and flag a failing component early.
Viscosity & density
ASTM D445Confirms the fluid still carries the load and lubricates the way the system was designed to run.
Flashpoint
ASTM D92/D93Pinpoints the ignition temperature to expose fuel dilution, cross-contamination and safety risk.
TAN / TBN analysis
Acid / baseTracks acidity and reserve alkalinity so you change oil on condition, not on a guess.
How it works
From sample to answer in three steps.

01
Request a quote
Tell us your equipment and what you need tested. We scope it and email your prepaid shipping label, usually the same day.
-
02
Pull and ship your sample
Fill a clean, dry sample bottle (about 4 oz / 120 mL). Not sure what to use? Ask and we’ll spec it. Drop it in with the prepaid label — we cover shipping both ways.
